Delivery, Offload and Handling of Air Conditioning Units on Site
At Finch of Bookham, our specialist machine movers successfully delivered, lifted, and positioned three air conditioning units, each weighing approximately 2000kg, at a secure facility. Working within tight internal spaces, we utilised our own specialist moving equipment and a gantry lifting system to safely transfer the equipment across multiple floors. Every stage, from offload to final positioning, was completed in line with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines, demonstrating precision, care, and seamless coordination.
Equipment Delivery and Gantry Installation
Our rigging team arrived on site and began by unloading the necessary lifting and moving equipment in preparation for the works. We erected a 2000kg aluminium gantry system within the staircase void, extending from the ground floor up to the first floor. Chain blocks were securely attached to the gantry to facilitate the lift.
Air Conditioning Unit Transport and Lifting
Each CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning) unit, weighing approximately 2000kg, was manoeuvred across the loading bay and through to the base of the staircase using a heavy-duty pallet truck. Following the manufacturer’s guidelines, we slung the first unit using 2000kg-rated nylon slings and prepared it for lifting. Using the gantry and chain blocks, the unit was hoisted from ground level up to the first floor, then safely lowered back onto a pallet truck.
Positioning and Completion
We carefully moved each unit into the plant room and positioned them as directed by the AES site supervisor. This process was repeated for all three CRAC units, ensuring safe handling and precise placement throughout. After final positioning, the gantry was dismantled, and all lifting equipment was securely stowed. All team members signed out, marking the successful completion of the job.
